Oxfam America has teamed up with renowned choreographer Christopher Caines, as well as US Climate Action Network, Greenpeace, Energy Action Coalition, 1Sky, 350.org, AVAAZ, NYPIRG, World Wildlife Federation, SustainUS, Realizing Rights and other TckTckTck campaign partners to create an enormous participatory aerial art piece.
On the eve of the UN Climate Summit, thousands of people will form the shape of a giant earth moving through a human hourglass sculpture. Think half-time show meets Spencer Tunick meets Earth Day rally. Not since Christo’s Gates installation has Central Park hosted a spectacle of this scale.
As world leaders and the international media descend on New York, we’ll use our bodies to send a bold visual message that time is running out. It’s a race against the clock: we need a fair, ambitious and binding global climate treaty before it’s too late!

Organized by the TckTckTck Campaign, the United Nations, the UN Foundation, the City of New York, The Climate Group and the Carbon Disclosure Project, Climate Week NYC is a program of more than 50 city-wide events from September 18-25, 2009.
